Crypto Billionaire Arrested in Nigeria
The Nigerian Police Force (NPF) has arrested crypto billionaire Linus Williams, also known as Blord, in Abuja. The arrest follows allegations of fraud against his companies, Blord Group, Blord Real Estate Limited, Blord JetPaye Limited, and BillPoint Technology.
The Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, stated that the NPF’s Cybercrime Unit is investigating complaints regarding cryptocurrency fraud, aiding internet fraud, computer-related fraud, terrorism funding, and non-compliance with regulatory frameworks.
The NPF is committed to ensuring a safe and secure cyberspace in Nigeria.
In a separate case, a bench warrant has been issued for the arrest of Dr Abraham Ehizojie, the medical doctor at the Kuje Correctional Centre. The warrant stems from Ehizojie’s alleged refusal to produce the medical report of Tigran Gambaryan, a detained executive of Binance Holdings Limited.
These events highlight the ongoing efforts to regulate the cryptocurrency industry in Nigeria and combat financial crimes within the space. It remains to be seen what the outcome of these investigations will be.
