Trump’s Bitcoin Push at Nashville Conference

Former President Donald Trump made a bold statement at the Bitcoin 2024 Conference in Nashville, Tennessee, declaring his plan to make the U.S. the “crypto capital of the planet.” Trump spoke to a large crowd, emphasizing Bitcoin’s values of “freedom, sovereignty, and independence from government,” and promising to appoint a Bitcoin and crypto advisory council on the first day of his new term.

He also criticized the Democratic Party’s approach to cryptocurrency, calling it “unfair targeting,” and vowed to fire Securities and Exchange Commission Chairman Gary Gensler, who has been critical of Bitcoin, saying it’s “rife with fraud.”

Trump’s speech generated excitement among Bitcoin enthusiasts at the conference, many of whom expressed hope that he would push for the creation of a strategic reserve of Bitcoin if he is elected president.

The Bitcoin 2024 Conference drew an estimated 20,000 attendees, including Trump supporters and backers of independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr., who also spoke at the conference.

The event has sparked a renewed focus on the potential role of cryptocurrency in the upcoming U.S. presidential election. Vice President Kamala Harris, who is the presumptive Democratic nominee, is reportedly asking questions about cryptocurrency as she prepares her own campaign.
