Musk Denies Tesla Will License xAI Tech

Elon Musk has denied reports that Tesla will license technology from his AI startup, xAI. The Wall Street Journal reported that the two companies had agreed to a deal where Tesla would use xAI’s models for its Full Self-Driving (FSD) software.

In a post on X, Musk refuted the report, stating that xAI’s models are too large to run on Tesla vehicles. He explained that Tesla’s AI models are “incredibly dense” and optimized for real-world driving, requiring a smaller computer and processing power.

Musk emphasized that Tesla already benefits from xAI engineers’ expertise and does not need to license any technology.

While xAI is still a young company, it has made significant progress, particularly with its Colossus 100,000 H100 training cluster. The company expects to double the size of its cluster in the coming months.
